How to enjoy our products

Welcome to Beaufort Biscuits! We are a small home-based artisan bakery located in Carteret County, NC. We do not have a storefront and we do not ship. The catalog below is representative of popular items we produce throughout the year. Not all of these are available on a regular basis.

From mid-April to mid-November you will find us at the Olde Beaufort Farmers Market in Beaufort, NC on most Saturday mornings from 9:00AM to 1:00PM selling our biscuits, granola, candied pecans, and cheese straws. We typically offer four kinds of biscuits; plain, cheese, cinnamon, and a weekly special. We try and have our weekly special reflect locally sourced berries or classic southern flavors (e.g., sweet potato, pimento cheese). The three granolas we offer are usually Seaside, Coconut Mango, and Cranberry. Follow us on Instagram or Facebook to see our weekly offerings. We accept preorders until 8:00PM Thursday for pick up at the market on Saturday before 11:00AM. Orders can be placed by calling or texting us at 252-266-0080, or emailing  beaufortbiscuits@gmail.com.  Payment is made at the time of pick up and we accept cash or credit cards (the use of credit cards will include tax and a 2.8% service fee).

Please feel free to contact us about placing an order for special occasions or events.

About Us

Barbara and Jeff Benoit

Hi, we are Jeff and Barbara Benoit. We started Beaufort Biscuits in 2021 after retiring from hectic professional careers and moving to North Carolina's Crystal Coast to enjoy a more relaxed coastal lifestyle. As we looked ahead to starting the next chapter in our life together, it was Jeff’s passion for traditional Southern buttermilk biscuits, rave reviews from friends, and our dream to operate a small local business that resulted in Beaufort Biscuits. We love what we do and the people we meet on this wonderful voyage, but it's the smile we see when someone tries one of our classic southern treats for the first time and you can just tell it reminds them of their Nanna.

The Legend of Beaufort Biscuits

It's rumored that in May of 1718 the French pirate sloop Le Trône de Poséidon arrived in Beaufort, North Carolina, for a rare meeting of the Pirates Conclave. The Captain of the ship planned to host a feast for the most famous of all pirates, Blackbeard himself. He directed the ships cook, Jacques Wright, to prepare “foods of the greatest proportions” and ordered him to start with his special “le biscuit”. Well, upon tasting the cook’s special creation, Blackbeard declared he had just experienced, “the best biscuit ever to be had in all of Beaufort”. What happened next is unclear, but when the Le Trône de Poséidon set sail two days later, Jacques Wright was not onboard, and as the story goes, Blackbeard enjoyed the special biscuits every day for the rest of his life. In fact, many believe that to this very day, the spirit of Jacques Wright watches over the preparation of every Beaufort Biscuit to ensure they are fresh, flaky, and the most sought-after biscuit in Beaufort.
